Exciting New Initiatives at NICA in 2010

Certificate IV in Circus Arts

Based on demand, NICA will introduce a one year program in basic Circus Skills, suitable for school leavers (18+) who have some experience in circus or other physical disciplines such as dance or gymnastics. This Certificate IV is designed to provide students with a full time program in the basics of circus as well as strength and conditioning, and is appropriate for students hoping to build their circus skills in order to audition for the Bachelor of Circus Arts; and for those students interested in working in community and recreational circus contexts.

Certificate III in Circus Arts

In 2010, NICA will be offering a Certificate III in Circus Arts for talented young people who are hoping to combine their circus training with their final two years of secondary school.

In an exciting initiative, NICA will join with the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School to offer a number of places to students entering Year 11 so that they can combine their circus training with the completion of their secondary school studies.

The VCA Secondary School provides a strong and innovative educational program for a range of high performing young people in the disciplines of dance, music, gymnastics, diving and now circus. Students will undertake their academic studies at the recently opened new facility at the VCASS and their circus training at the NICA facilities in Prahran.

This Certificate III may also be offered as an after school program.
